Diesel Fuel Additives?

Long time Ford 7.3 diesel owner, new to the Cummins world.

Anyone using the Cummins Fuel Additives? Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thank you,

I'm a SeaFoam addict and use it for all my additive needs. No connection with the company or product, but know it works.

Like a cetane booster or anti-gel?

I don't have a Cummins (yet) but my 6.0 REALLY likes Archoil for both oil and fuel. There is a REAL noticeable difference on a HEUI injected Ford. See if you can get a sample for the Cummins from them to see if it makes it run nicer.

The only other thing would be to keep a bottle of Diesel 911 in the event of winter gel, happened to me at -11 one day.

Straight ULS in the 2013 Jetta. Replace the filter every 20,000 miles. Zero problems in 77,000 miles. No NY winter gelling issues yet, either.

Straight #2 HS for the off road things. No difficulties since adding a good filter to the pump and preventing water from getting into the storage tanks.

I have a new 6.7 and I'm actually very happy with the way it performs, but I'm curious. When you say the Archoil makes a REAL noticeable difference, what are you referring to. Thanks in advance

The injectors in the 6.0 suffer from stiction which causes poor cold weather operation. Archoil oil additive helps the injectors and performance is greatly improved. The fuel additive quiets the engine down considerably. Maybe it's a 6.0 thing?

Got it, thanks. I had an "06" 6.0 before this one and ran Lucas in the fuel occasionally. It had 212K on it when I sold it and I never had any injector or engine issues with it. The only things I ever had to change on it were four glow plugs and the alternator. I know, I got lucky...

Thanks for the info.

Yes, you got lucky! Most have to get it studded and deleted.

My 05 6.0l had 150k on it and all I did was replace an EGR valve. All around solid motor if properly modded. Traded that for my current Ford 6.7l. To the OP, any diesel fuel additive that boosts cetane #'s and more importantly adds lubricity to the high pressure fuel pump, which is sadly missing in today's ULS diesel fuels, are good. I use PowerService grey bottle in summer, and white in the winter.

Diesel Fuel Additives

Suggest you check your owners manual concerning subject additives.

Yes. They list a complete line of additives to help clean system, prevent bacteria, etc.

These work very well. Doesn't matter if it's Ford, Dodge, Chevy..whatever.

How many miles did you get in 10 years before you dropped $6K into your truck's engine?

I bought it used a year ago. It has 160K miles on it. My first and last used car. If they still made the Excursion, I would have purchased a new one. It's hard to find a vehicle big enough for the 5 kids and 2 dogs that will still tow my motorcycle trailer.
