Disabling Automatic Entryway Stairs

In the Greyhawk 29MV and MVP, when you park in a residential neighborhood next to a curb, it seems like the automatic stairs will hit the curb when you open the entry door to the motorhome. Is there a way to disable the automatic stairs so that you can enter and exit the unit through the motorhome door and not have the stairs hit the curb?

I have thought the same thing but it turns out so far that mine has cleared all the curbs I have encountered in a Melbourne 24K. You might have to make your own with a switch on the power to the step. Not sure if there are 2 power sources or the power bypasses the main disconnect switch to the coach battery.

The steps are hot wired to the coach battery so disconnecting that wire in the battery bay or the other end at the steps near the motor would work.

Our steps have done the same thing for many years and never a problem. The motor is designed to stop when resistance is detected.

When you say your steps have done the same thing, what do you mean? Please explain in detail. Do you mean that the steps hit the curb and just stop or that they hit the curb and completely retract?

Thanks.

Steps will stop when they meet something.
"Hit the curb and stop."

X2 ... As soon as they hit the curb they stop even if they are not fully extended. Never have been a problem.
