Do your house batteries get charged with the coach switch off?

Hi all, I’m curious about something; if your plugged into shore power, and your coach main switch is off, does your house battery still get charged ?

I have a 2019 Redhawk 25R

My question is why is it off if plugged into shore?

But

I'm not sure of the correct answer, so I'll hang out to hear it

I’m curious. Just wondering how power runs through these rigs when main is switched off.

I think you'd have to look at the electrical schematic for your specific model to see how it's connected. In my 29MV, the converter connects on the battery side of the main shutoff solenoid so it will charge the battery regardless of position of the main switch.

Next time I'm in my rig with a voltmeter, I'll check. You got me curious too

Thanks DVPl and pconroy, my rig is tucked away in an indoor storage facility until January. I’m just curious. I might switch to a DC fridge, connect it straight to my battery with is own shutoff. If the rig charges the house battery when the switch is off that would be good.

On my Entegra, the battery does get charged as mentioned by @dvspl.

The battery as well as the 12V from the shore power (via converter) are connected to the input side of the shutoff (through a breaker). Thus the battery is "always" connected to the converter 12V.

The output of the disconnect SW is routed back to supply the converter fuse panel with 12V. Thus when the disconnect SW is off, there is no 12V power to the fuses from either the battery or the shore power (converter).

Perhaps the battery disconnect should actual be called the 12V disconnect.
