Door rattle

I was searching but could not find a direct solution to this. I am having the issue reported by others with my main entrance door to my camper rattling when driving it down the road. I have a 2019 Greyhawk 31FSP. It sounds like it is rattling around the door latch.

The door closes nicely right now when parked and it is pretty tight so I would not want to tighten it more.

Looking for suggestions. What can I try to stop the squeaking?

Squeaking or rattling? Those sound like two different issues.

Many people have had to adjust the striker plates and bolts on their rigs, if it's ratting. Also make sure you flip the dead bolt when moving. This sometimes helps secure the door (and keep it from popping open during transit ).

My door was squeaking when going down the road, so I sprayed all around the door seal and door frame with silicone spray, and that stopped the squeaking.

I haven't personally experienced a rattling near my latch, but if I do I will first try RetiredOne's solutions. I'm sure it's a simple adjustment near the latch.

I almost forgot to mention that you should check the screws on the latch itself. Mine tend to back out, and I keep forgetting to put Lock-tite on them. Last time out, my son found one of them laying on the floor. Thankfully I've trained him to look for screws and report them to me. He has found several for me.

My primary door-related rattling issue was the metal kick panel in the bottom of the screen door. Before our last major trip, I went around it with a strip of black Gorilla tape to secure it tightly into the frame. The relief was literally physically evident. It's like when an incessant loud banging suddenly stops and you literally feel physically relieved.

My point is that you should keep hunting down those squeaks and rattles and fix them. Because you'll definitely notice the difference.
