Double facepalm day

So of the many things I took my RV to the dealer to have fixed, the zone 2 audio was not working. Well not only do I not have audio from the DVD on zone 2, but now zone 1 does not play the video anywhere but the dashboard screen. Big trip in less than 30 days, Cummins appt in the morning, this is gonna be fun....

Good luck convincing the service writer that there actually is a problem. Then hope that the service writer puts a competent tech on the job. And explains the problem properly.

Can you tell I'm no fan of dealer service departments?

Buying local (brick & mortar stores) is much better for the local economy!

I bought my new TT from the next-to-nearest dealer.

But handing over an expensive piece of equipment to:
A) The service writer: who's job it is to separate you from the most of your hard-earned money.
B) Inadequately trained technicians that are reviewed on the basis of billable work. So they are pressured to get the job out-the-door, not do the best job possible.

I bought a brand-new 2013 VW Jetta TDi. The first 3 routine services were included in the price. I let them do the first one. I had to take the car back because they over-tightened the lugs and completely missed a change in a configuration setting.

Since then, I buy the filters and fluids from the dealer's PARTS department and do the service myself. At least I am doing something for the hour that it takes, rather than sitting around for 2-3 hours.

[end rant]

Same thing with DVD happening to ours CarlB. It was working fine until I had dealer install the bluetooth mic. Now I have to bring it back. Did you find out what the "clanking" noise was coming from your water heater?

I think the door outside wasn't seated right causing it to rattle and make a big ruckus. We still have the hammer effect and pulsating water. Not sure if I will get to that before THE TRIP, especially given the days it is being held hostage at various repair shops.

Our water will pulsate with either full hot or full cold. If I mix them a bit I get a steady stream. Not sure why that is.

What's the plumbing distance from the pump to the faucet?

I had to replace a pump in a previous trailer. Replacing a pump is one of the simpler RV repair jobs, and I know how to do plumbing very well, so the time and fuel costs it would have taken to transport it to the dealer to get it fixed weren't worth it.

I replaced the bad pump with one of these:
SHURFLO® REVOLUTION™ Pump 12 VDC 3.0 GPM | REVOLUTION™ 4008 Pumps

It runs virtually silent, plus it has an adjustable bypass. That means the pump just turns on and runs when the pressure drops below a certain threshold - no cycling when using just a little water and therefore no pulsing water. I'm not sure whether it's more efficient to run all the time or keep starting/stoping the pump. It's probably the former, so it may not the best option if all you do is boondocking and/or dry camping, however. A pressurized accumulator tank would probably work better for that.
