Drive Shaft Ping Noise

My 2016 Redhawk 29XK when in Tow/Haul mode will sometimes make a pining noise from the drive shaft when down shifting into low gear. Anyone else have this noise ?.

I purchased our '16 Grayhawk 29 MV back in Feb. The first couple of times I shifted from park into drive with my foot on the brake I got a driveshaft Ping. I did not like that at all.....

I experimented some, and now shift from park into neutral with my foot on the brake. Seconds later with my foot off the brake, I slide the shifter into drive ..... "NO PING" ..... Seems to work every time .....

When towing our Subaru Forester ... No noise or issues in shifting what so ever....

Ford tranny's been clunking into gear since the first 4EOD was introduced in the early 90's. My 09 does the same as did my 93'. Neutral shifting works as you've discovered. A good synthetic tranny and torque converter fluid change will help as well.
