Dry camping

I had my first attempt at dry camping. Ran the generator to recharge the house battery. After 3 hours the battery did not recharge. Is the something I am missing or does my 2017 Redhawk have a defect?

Is the generator supplying power to the house outlets? If not, you have an Automatic Transfer Switch problem, a tripped breaker on the genset, or the genset is defective.

Does your battery charge from shore power? If not, you have a converter problem.

The ATS on my Greyhawk is under the bed. I have to swing the bed up and pull off a panel at the foot of the bed to access it.

The breaker is on the left side of the genset above and left of the carb. It blends in very well with genset so it's a bit hard to see sometimes.

Agree with you need to make sure that your AC outlets are getting voltage when the generator is running.

Another cheap way to check would be to take a low-cost voltmeter (multimeter) out to the battery when the generator is running. Measure voltage and see if you're seeing 13.2 to 14V there.

If not, then time to debug why the generator power's not making to the battery.

If you do see 13+ V at the battery, time to debug whether you needed more that 3 hours to recharge (a real possibility) or you've got a battery that's on the way out.

Check for a circuit breaker on top of the generator.

A 2017 is certainly under warranty, I'd consider taking to a Cummins/Onan generator place and have it checked out. I'd talk to your dealer about this and get his approval. I think you will get a lot faster service with a generator repair facility than an RV place this time of year.
