That seems to be the trend in many movies and TV shows anymore. Often main characters are mumblers (I can't stand mumblers!) and I have to crank the volume to be able to hear the mushmouths. Some friends of mine now use closed captioning all of the time because of that.
If you change the television equalizer settings, you can usually bring out the voices and drop the background/music level. I've done that, but also use CC all the time too, just to catch those words I miss.

Check to see that the audio format for the DVD is not set to 5.1 in the setup. Center channel is normally for dialog. If your RV doesn't have the full 5.1 speaker setup, you could be missing this channel. Try changing DVD audio setup to Dolby 2.0 if available.

Use your remote and raise the volume on the center channel. You must do that before watching the movie or after, not during. Had the same problem on my '05 Granite Ridge
