To all,
Thank you for the information on the engine noise. I have been looking for this noise’s source since 2018.
The information was spot on.
I purchased the idler and 13m bolt and installed in less than five minutes.
If you are curious, I stood on a step stool and accessed the boss by reaching down by the fan cowl. The idler dropped on the boss and the belt tool little pressure to move.(I did not buy a new belt.) Tighten the bolt up and fired it up.
Took it on a test drive - no noise.
Thank you again for the detail.

Bullitt6283, thank you for your help with this. Please don't take one person's opinion as representative for the rest of us.
Rodpod, friend, if you need help PM me your paypal information and I will cover your loss. I've saved so much from the friendly free advice I've gotten from these forums that I don't mind helping a brother out.

I also have benefited a great deal from the information on this an other RV forums. I will continue to monitor and contribute to this forum, notwithstanding your faux obsequious reply. First, we are not friends, or brothers. Second, i am offended by your disingenuous offer to reimburse me for an unwarranted loss due to misinformation. I take it as a thinly veiled attempt to denigrate me for pointing out an obvious problem. Best to keep your money and your opinions...

To All Concerned:
In Post #61 of this thread I posted the part number of an idler pulley which I believed to be a solution to the belt-flutter-noise issue.
One forum member here has posted that pulley did not fit his engine.
I apologize to anyone who has been harmed.

My problem is solved after several years of chasing it, and gnashing of teeth. Thanks for all of the help from this forum. Apology accepted bullit6283. Happy camping and God speed. BTW love the car. I have a muscle car myself.

Well, seems that worked out quite well.
also,
Completed the 750mile round-trip Monday. Still no chatter and no ill effects from the added pulley. Sure is nice being able to set the cruise without having to avoid 2100.

Returned from a 200 mile trip and can confirm that the addition of the idler pulley has fixed the issue for me. Absolutely no noise in that RPM range. I'm truly a happy camper now.

Have my parts in hand but ran out of time to install this weekend. Question for you...did you install from the top or bottom? Always better to take counsel if available

I installed mine from the top with the help of a small stool to get up and in there. I couldn't get to it from the bottom - to high up to reach.

GABob, if you look at the picture in post 89, that is the view from the top with the air cleaner removed.

Good to hear!
Another great thing about this tip is that even if the idler pulley failed on anyone, it would be simple to remove even while on a trip and you would not be any worse off.

I ordered my pulley and bolts a couple weeks ago. Bolts are here, pulley is on the way.
I'll probably get a chance to see how it does end of March. Got about a 400 mi round trip outing coming toward end of March. Will post up here with results.
