Finally, I can close this chapter of RV Life. I was able to exchange the oversized YS-250 pulley(5" dia.) and got the correct size pulley YS-385 (3 1/2"dia.). It all took me about a half hour and most of that was driving to my local Ford dealer. But it is a load off my mind to "FINALLY" have this behind Me. That belt rattling was driving me crazy. This is what forums are for, people helping people. And just so anyone else that is looking to do the same. The bolt part number is N808102-S437 2X, Pulley is YS-385 1X 1L2Z-8678-AD. Just in case you have to give your Ford dealer a little help looking up the correct part numbers.
Good Luck and Happy Camping

10 minute install.
Removed the air filter for access. I spent more time putting air filter back in place than anything else. Underneath, where you can't see it, there's a plastic cog that fits into the metal compression band that secures the air filter housing. Be patient, just fiddle with it until it fits.
Things required:
- Torque wrench
- 13mm socket
- Loctite (blue)
- Step ladder

I just recently joined this forum as I just got the 2021 Redhawk and was just reading the posts. The link you provided above in Ford Truck Enthusiasts was the one I posted over 10 years ago on my V10 Excursion.
What I did back then was when I changed the belt, tensioner, and idler pulley as a routine preventative maintenance, I got an additional pulley for that position. I used the bolt from the pulley of the old tensioner to mount that 2nd idler pulley. I didn't have that belt dance, but just added one on there because it looked like it was missing. It's been working fine and I have no issues. Picture below is what it looks like now.
Anyway, if I had seen this thread back in December, I would've made this recommendation. Oh well...
Take care.

That's interesting, John. Thanks for posting this!
It's also good to know that there isn't a long-term issue with adding the missing pulley.
Cheers

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing. We were reasonably sure that Ford's deletion of the pulley was not due to the boss breaking off, losing all coolant and trashing the engine, etc..... but it's nice to hear about your "long term" results.

I added the support pulley. Most of my time was used removing mud from the internal thread of the boss but it was relatively easy. The rattle is gone and knowing the engine is not pinging gives me piece of mind, at least as the engine is concerned. Although, I do have a small concern about the additional side load the pulley is putting on the alternator and water pump bearings. Generically, the belt shouldn't have more than 1/2" of movement. I checked by hand and it has tension and I would say significantly less than 1/2" of play. So I'm going to leave it on and watch it.

As long as your spring loaded idler pulley still has some spring action left in it, then the load (belt tension) should be the same or very close to it. ~CA

Thanks. Now I need to figure out how that all works and see if the tensioner is on it's stops. The belt before had a lot more slop than 1/2", else I wouldn't have been able to put the additional pulley on.

I read in my areas that you can add a tension wheel the that area of vibration. Matter of fact mine has the extra threaded hole to the far right front of block where it would ride against the belt in that vibration area. Has this been mentioned here yet and has it worked?

@ Antper -- That is what I did after reading this entire thread and it worked. I would read the thread and make your own decision, as it's not a factory authorized repair, as far as I know.

Further, if you watched the video that one owner was skilled enough to provide us (youtube?), you saw the serpentine vibrations that cause the noises, and realize the removing them has to be nothing but good :-)

Two trips, both around 800 miles after installing the new pulley, and no more noise. Best mod to date for me.

I drove from south-central PA down to Darlington, SC and back. No issues at all with the added pulley.

UPDATE: I'm in the middle of my first trip since replacing the tension pulley and serpentine belt. And I'm happy to report, NO ANNOYING RATTLE AS I REACHED 2000 RPM. I want to thank all for your advise and input. This is a very knowledgeable forum.

Forum to the rescue AGAIN
I think you cats can read minds. As with all of V10 owners I am pretty sure we have encountered that noise and just wrote it off to an "ism" of the V10. I rent on a rv rental site and my last renter came back talking about the noise. I made a note to myself to research it and volia'. Sticky post on the forum just answered my question. Thanks so much to the OP and all the follow on posts. Ordering my parts today!

I just changed the belt and did not add the pully and i am glad to report that we still do not have any noise after 3000. miles. I may still add the pully but for now we are happy, This was the best mod to date for us as well.

Just added the "extra" idler pulley. Found I could reach in from topside and install without having to take anything off. Took all of 2 minutes.
THANK YOU GUYS!
That noise was driving me NUTZ!
