Electrical issues 2017 29mv Greyhawk ford chassis

First timer posting... New owner and rver.

My control/info panel at the door shows battery fully charged (12.6 volts). Interior and exterior lights work. Micro works. Fridge works. What doesn't work is the generator start, the furnace and auto-level panel.

No display on furnace thermostat nor any response on slide switches for thermostat. All else seems normal. Where do I start? I have looked at the house circuit breaker panel. No circuit breakers thrown. Checked all the fuses. All good now. I'm out of ideas. I am plugged into 120 volt shore power currently (dog bone 30 to 15 amp).

I recently changed house battery and I did not study battery cable connections when removing. It's nice how all is labeled (NOT). Some power leads are red. Some black and some who knows what they are. I figured out the battery cable issue and attached correctly. I replaced the 3 fuses in the house electrical panel because they were all blown on the polarity circuit board (wonder why ). Their was a 7.5 amp fuse blown on the battery disconnect relay and I replaced it.

I have been reading the forum posts and I am impressed with all the knowledge here. Can anyone help me out? I would sincerely appreciate it.

If the generator start is not working you definitely have the geny cable on the wrong post since it is independent from the rest of the coach. That start control is wired directly to the geny.

Certainly 1 thing at a time here.

generator- what does "doesn't work" mean? does it turn over?

I would use the prime/start on the generator itself (as opposed to any remote panel) and 1st press the prime/stop side- do you here the pump clicking? If so, then hold that in for 20-30 seconds. Then press the button the other way to start- does the generator turn over like an engine starting? Dont hold the start side for more than 30 seconds max. If it doesnt start, you probably have fuel problems unrelated to any battery mis-connection. This would be a problem for another day.

No Start = no response. No crank. No indicator light. No manual start light or crank.

Could be you left a cable off changing batteries out. It’s always good to take a picture before removing cables. One wrong hook up could cause serious damage.

Does genset operate from it's local control? Remove the genset panel and you'll find identical controls on the genset. Like Grumpy said, it's possible you still have a miswire on your battery. I'd take a picture of my wiring but I've modified it too much to be of much use.

On my 2016 29MV there is only one cable on the negative battery post.

I have heard, but I am not sure, that there is another fuse lurking somewhere for the thermostat issue. I heard it's in the wall wiring behind the thermostat. Perhaps another owner can chime in....

The Gen should have its own designated positive battery cable going from the camper battery to the Gen. There is a circuit breaker on the Gen next to the start button, around on the side; you can check that. Not sure if there are other breakers/fuses.

I guess its time to pull out a multimeter and start checking starting with the battery cable going into the Gen.

If it was my 2018 Greyhawk doing these things after messing with the batteries. I would go to the battery compartment and check all of my wires , especially since you had to replace the reverse polarity fuses……

Thank you. I have now labeled all battery wires. One negative and the rest positive. Any future wire disconnects are going to be photographed before removing...from now on!
