Thinking about installing Progressive Industries HW30-C protection system. Any experience or advice on doing the install?
I'm going with the hard wired unit. I have nice portable surge protector brand that has some of the same features but I dislike it dangling ftom wherever I plug it in. It does not lend it self without an extension cord to driveway 15A GFI outlets.

I installed the HW30-C in my 26BH. To me, the hardest part of the install was finding a place to mount the EMS and accessing the location. The power cord entrance on the 26BH comes in behind the power distribution panel. I had to disconnect all the wiring on the right side of the distro panel and swing it out of the way to access the cavity behind it. Once the EMS was in place, there was no way of seeing it so I had to get the unit with the remote display.

I also installed one in my 22FB which I found fairly easy to do. The EMS location was right under the sink adjacent to where the power comes in and I was able to snake the display cable up the wall so it mounted directly over the sensor switches. Just take your time and map your route out for your particular model and you should have no problems.

I installed the 30 AMP version in my fifth wheel; as others have said, it's not a difficult install. I think the most important thing is to find a good location that is convenient to the path your wiring takes.
And my EMS has proved useful; it has protected us from one under-voltage situation, one missing ground, and one reversed hot/neutral.

We had a 30A pole mount in our first TT, bought and installed a hard-wired 50A model when we upgraded to the 5th. Access to the back side of the dist panel was pretty easy via the basement.

30 amp hard wired version is very easy to install due to the smaller wire size. The 50 amp is a little more aggravating just due to the larger #6 wires. We've had one on the last 4 rigs, and it's worth every penny. The remote display location can be tricky sometimes depending on your set up, but we've managed to fish wires through walls to get it in a good place to view.

I too installed mine on the side wall of the cable compartment. I simply made sure that I could unbol it and slide it out. I cut the incoming power cable, wired it up and slid the nit in mounted on a back board.
