This is a common problem on RV's with power steps. Often I have found it is in the door sensor. When it thinks the door is open it will not retract the steps.

Model and Year?

There are fuses under the coach by the steps. Be very careful if you are under them and checking these fuses. Stay aware of where steps travel and keep your hands clear.

Behind the kick panel under the stearing column you will find a mess of wires and a couple of fuse holders. One is for a circuit the steps are on. It is a 4amp fuse. Check to see if it is blown. Also, this fuse will kill the mirror camras and back up camera. (dont know why, but it does on mine)

I have a 2012 31FS

I have also seen a few power steps that have rusted in the open position and that will blow the fuse. There is a product called Grease Gun in a Can that does a wonderful job of lubing the linkages on the steps. The motor on most of the step units is rather small and it doesn't take a whole lot of corrosion to over tax it. On some step units, there is a cotter pin that you can remove to disconnect from the motor. If the steps don't fold easily, corrosion is at least one of the factors. If you do disconnect from the motor, make sure you tie the steps up if you move the vehicle because the motor is what holds the steps in.
