Equalizer leveling system won’t work

Jayco Grayhawk 2016 29mv .
Our first trip this year and the jacks wont work. It has been setting for 5 months . The power light comes on , they will retract . The emergency brake light goes out when set . The ignition light is off when the ignition is of . When I push the auto level button I get a steady fault tone . No pump action . Tomorrow I will craw under motor home and check for broken wire . I looked at wires on back of key pad and unplugged plug and reseated , didn't help. Any suggestions

Check the contactor at the hydraulic pump. I had a post break off and the pump would not run. I was able to reconnect it with what was left of the post and i’m in my dealer parking lot right now after picking it up for that fix.

I have the same unit. I usually put the ignition switch not in the on position, but in the acc position when leveling

I E-Mailed them from the campground and they responded quickly . I could hear the contactor click when I tried to put them down . The pump ran if I retracted them . Now that I am home I will be able to clean all the corroded terminals and determine if the reversing contactor is bad . I am leaning toward a bad contactor It is exposed to the road salt . I will reply when I locate the problem . Dave

Also check for any bad connectors or grounds while you're under there, these made our system go crazy for a while until I fix them

I still struggle to understand why the coach manufacturers don't require the suppliers of these parts to use only sealed automotive style connectors just like Ford does on the chassis. The cost is so small and reliability would jump up by a lot.

Wow...timely post. I just pulled into my RV site on our first trip of the season and the jacks would not extend. The pump would run a bit then quit, then click (contactor....sounds like the sound my airplane contactor made when I turned on the master switch). We just finished about 250 miles of driving rain and such. By finessing the switches, I ultimately got them down since we are staying in this site for the week. Guess I will address it when I get home (as long as they retract, which did not seem to be a problem).

Off the top of your head, is there a part number for the contactor. I may just buy one when I run into town this week to have it available.

My contactor was marked 301008 12Vdc 1214
Equalizer part # is 2994 and is $67.00 plus shipping .
I located a Guide Force Contactor #100-12 that is the same description and terminal configuration . The terminals may not be the correct size .I ordered it from Northern for $47.99 + 6.99 shipping . It will arrive in a few more days . I will confirm that it works when it arrives .
Smack the contactor hard it may start to work mine worked after I broke open the case and let the water out .

Thanks, I suspect that the way it is acting, it is either waterlogged or I have a loose connection. Once the rain slows down here, I will crawl underneath and use the old starter solenoid solution that you mention (whack it with the handle of a screw driver). I may also tear it out, buy some contact cleaner locally and see if that will make it work again.

Again...thanks for the timely thread and response to my question.

Well, after crawling under the coach in the rain, disconnecting and spraying all connectors with a "drying" aresol for ignition parts, the jacks retracted normally this morning (deep sigh of relief). When I get home I will try to extend them again. I found that at least two of the connectors were not fully seated and locked in place and am thinking this may have contributed to the issue. We shall see.

Guideforce Reversing Contactor 100-12

Guideforce 100 Amp reversing relay does work as a replacement for the original Egualizer 2994 . The terminals are arranged in the exact configuration and are the same size . The guideforce is a more robust 100 amp contactor , slightly larger and heaver . The only modification I did was to use a second screw clamp to clamp it to the side of the pump motor as the mounting bracket was different than the original and the relay is heaver .

This is an emergency last ditch maneuver if your jacks are down
Remember the RV is going to lower don't do this if you wont fit . Don't try this unless you are really comfortable working on you own vehicles and are stuck .

In an emergency situation if positive power was applied to one of the low voltage end terminals that would activate the pump motor one is up the other would be down . The center control terminal is ground . I do not know which is up or down . Doing this bypasses all control circuits.

If you are really stuck with the jacks down , the pump motor has two heavy terminals on the back of the motor . Positive voltage to One will run the pump to retract the jacks . It would take a heavy cable like jumper cables. I do not know which is the down terminal .

Great information. In the equalizer manual it says emergency retraction can be done with a cordless drill as long as it will spin the pump at 2000 rpm (not sure if my DeWalt or Ryobi will do that). So, I will start carrying a drill, however now that I am home, it is retracting/extending normally so the connectors were likely the culprit. I will get some dielectric grease to put in them to get a more water tight connection before I leave on our big trip.

I did notice that there was a foil cover in the center of the back of the motor. The drill I carry with me for emergency use does not achieve 2000 rpm.
