Exhaust heat and tire temps

So in the nearly 23,000 miles I have logged with my Rig I have been running a TPMS that also shows pressure and temperature. Temperature is a lead indicator of failure of a tire, and at 130F things can get bad quick, meaning tire failure.

Consistently, the inner dually on the passenger side registers higher temps than any of the other tires. During times when we are caught in high temperature areas and heavy traffic I have watched it hit 125F and higher on another occasion, which forced me off the highway to let things cool down.

Has anyone else noticed this and what are the thoughts on running exhaust wrap to make sure the heat goes out the tail pipe and not the whole length of the pipe?

I know one who have had a tire catch fire from that. The answer was to install a metal baffle/ heat shield between the heat source and the tire.

edit clarification: in this case the heat source was the tail pipe was to close to the inside tire.

Agree that heat is tough on tires, but we have driven across the Mohave Desert many times, thru Baker and Las Vegas, when the air temp was above 115 deg and the black asphalt road had to be at least 10 to 20 deg above the air temp, no tire failures yet. I'll have to check the road temp, maybe this coming summer, although I don't like even stopping at the rest stops when the weather is that hot.
