Exterior Door Strut Fix
Since new, my 2018 25R exterior door strut has given me issues. For the last 3 seasons, I haven't even used it. Took it off and added some rubber strips to the awning arm in case the door swung into it. Used a string to tie the door open when I wanted a breeze. Neither ideal, but they worked.
Finally got around to fixing the poor installation on the door mount today. It was originally installed incorrectly, with 2 of the 3 screws used to mount the bracket installed into the fiberglass door, not the metal. As you can imagine, those 2 screws in the fiberglass ended up doing nothing and worked their way out after a bit of driving.
I drilled all the way through the door and used 2 1/2" stainless screws to mount the bracket. Much more secure now. I know the outside doesn't look too appealing up close, but from a distance I don't even notice.
Jealous of all of you with the strut mounted on the bottom of your doors.
