First trip flat towing

Just got back from Disney 1,000 miles one way flat towing. I must say everything I've read about it on other forums is true you really don't know the car is back their. Hook up is quick and easy. My wife drives it no problem. One time she pulled into a gas station that not meant for motorhomes, I was ready to blow a gasket but I was amazed she drive right out with no problem at all. The only hick up we ran into was I hit a tire retread on 95 just before midnight and it nocked out the toads tail light wiring. I had know Idea until I stopped for gas about an hour later. it also put a small dent in the door but that kind of stuff does not upset me any more life is too short. Anyway just my tow cents. Only problem Im having now is that I really want a golf cart after Fort Wilderness. Wish Jayco made a Toy Hauler Motorhome again.

Yes, I would like to know your setup also. We just bought a new (to us) CR-V so we can flat tow behind our Grayhawk.

No dolly. Towing 4 wheels down with Blue Ox base plate, tow bar and patriot brake system.

We are considering towing 4 wheels down as well, did you notice a significant reduction in MPG while towing?

Worst I got was 6mpg that was going thru the hilly parts of 95 maryland and va. Best was around 7mpg. I really couldnt keep an accurate track of the milage because i had a few gas stations that wouldnt let me put more than $75. We were also running the generator most of the way.

Best we ever did with our 01 32' DESINGNER towing was 7 3/4 mpg so your probably in the right ball-park with yours.

Hey Greyhawk 101, Google the Cricket golf cart. I have the same tow equipment as you but I tow a 2015 Chevy Equinox. I picked up a Cricket at the manufacturer in Aguata, Ga on my way to Florida in early February. It breaks down and fits comfortably in the Equinox. I averaged around 7 1/2 MPG on my trip and the cricket was great running around the campgrounds. It run be about $3800 New. Heading to South Jersey over the 4th for a couple of days.
