Flat towing a 2015 grand cherokee with my 29MV? Good, bad or iffy?

We have a 2015 29MV Class C Ford 450 chassis V10 etc. We want to pull our Jeep Grand Cherokee, with the Blue Ox system, tow bar and Patriot brake system.
Has anyone pulled a vehicle that heavy? with success? I believe our coach states it is good for pulling 7500 lbs, the Jeep is 4875 lbs.

We tow a 2019 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with no problems. Ours with V8 is over 5000 lbs. Go by GCWR - GVWR and not hitch capacity. Some motor homes have more hitch capacity than actual towing capacity.

BTW, my setup is Roadmaster Sterling with InvisiBrake. Works great.

I tow a 2015 Grand Cherokee (WK2) with a 2018 Greyhawk 29MV

No problems at all. Tows great. I never thought I would, but sometimes I actually do forget it's back there. The only time I really KNOW it's there is when I'm pulling a long grade, or if I've driven the Greyhawk without the Jeep a while, then I attach it.

I use all Blue Ox tackle with a Patriot II brake. I used the diode kit for lighting, and added the supplemental charge line to keep the battery topped up in the GC. Takes me about 3 minutes to connect/disconnect, and another minute to place and set up the brake module.

I generally cruise around 65 mph (yes, using the cruise control) with Tow/Haul mode engaged. If I'm in an urban area going over overpasses or in hilly terrain, I'll still use cruise control, but will help manage the throttle manually. I'll goose the throttle a little to get a one-gear downshift before a grade and most of the time I can maintain speed. If I let cruise handle it, it will bleed 5 mph and then drop 2 gears trying to make it back up. If it's shifting a lot or I know it's a long pull up a grade, I'll disengage cruise and do it myself to keep the transmission happy.

I researched the vehicle extensively before I purchased it as well as all the tackle, and I installed it all my self. So if you have any questions, I can probably answer them. Just ask away.

ETA: Some differences between our rigs (2015 to 2018): The 2018 has 6-spd transmission; 2015 is 5-spd. The 2018 has true 7500 towing capacity supported by GCVWR AND hitch rating. Some of the documentation for the 2015 model shows 5,000 lb towing capacity, even with a GCVWR of 22,000 lbs. You'll want to make sure both the weight rating and the hitch itself support 7500 lbs. 5,000 lbs rating with a 4875 lb vehicle is a little close for comfort IMO, but then I put stuff in my Jeep and use it a little like extra storage...

A couple additional items. Make sure your GC has Quadra trac 2 or Quadra Drive 2 and the transfer gear case can be placed in Neutral. Not all Grand Cherokees can be flat towed. Also, if you have Quadra Lift make sure it is in Normal mode before towing (disable auto entry exit while towing).

These are really good points.

When I was shopping for my JGC, my budget would only support a used vehicle. So I had to comb through the listings, hoping the pictures were accurate as that's the only way I could determine whether the vehicle had the right transfer case setup. They were all listed as simply "4-wheel-drive" which is less than helpful since they use 3 different transfer cases in those vehicles. And the higher end units with the adjustable suspension were typically out of my budget. I must've looked at thousands of listings...

On top of that, it had to be 2015 or newer to avoid the potential electronic steering issue (death wobble). I wanted it to have no more than a certain number of miles, I wanted a specific option group...

I was looking for such a specific vehicle that even a buddy of mine who runs a used car lot gave up on me and said "sorry buddy, you're on your own"!

I'm pulling our 2019 Jeep Wrangler 4 door JL. No issues yet. It weighs in at 4600 lbs before I put extra gear in there. So that toad weight is pretty close to maybe over, by the time I put gear in it. I'm a newbie at towing a toad at this point, but it is working fine so far. I live in the mt. west with lots of high mt. passes to go up and down. I've got a 2020 Jayco Redhawk 24B. So far, so good. I know all Jeeps are different at the toad aspect of being able to be set up. On ours, I did it all myself. A bit of a pain to install the various systems, but now it just follows along nicely and is quick and easy to do when hooking / unhooking.
