Flimsy dinette seats.

Anybody else notice how flimsy support is for the dinette seat. Mine is just two thin strips of plywood stapeled together. I noticed today that the boards are seperating. I was going to screw them back together but now im thinging about reinforcing it with a 1x3. Anybody else have this problem or am i going overboard with the reinforcing.

Yes there's likely a few of us. I have repaired both sides now. Not sure how anyone thought a few staples sticking 1/4" into pressboard would support anything. My 5yr old was sitting colouring at the table and fell through last trip.

I ended up removing the seat and countersinking a few screws in from the outside. The couch sits right up against the back of the dinette seat anyway and so they aren't visible.

I'm not sure I follow. What is flimsy?

On the topic of the dinette we found the seats to be too upright. The solution was to get a pool noodle, cut it down to the width of the dinette, and put the noodle behind the back cushion. Gives it just enough tilt/recline to be comfortable. The dinette seats are deep enough to accommodate the nudge forward.

I had the same problem thatBCK had. The bottom seat cushion began to cave in. When i lifted off the removable plywood bottom. I saw that the seat was not supported by a strong beam but rather two thin strips of plywood stapled together that were barley holding together.

I put some scrap 4x4 in for suport. Much better now.

Our biggest issue is the backs falling down. No sagging on our Redhawk 23xm and we are not light

We're currently on a roadtrip.

I stopped in a Home Depot, grabbed a 2x4 and had them cross cut it into 11.5" lengths. Jammed it under the existing supports and things are much better.
