Fridge-Fix for Norcold 1200 or 1210 best modification

I have to say, the Fridge-Fix, that I recently installed on my Norcold 1200 series fridge in my Embark is amazing. Almost no extra power draw and the fridge is many times colder, stuff on the bottom is cold and stays cold. Also the recovery time from opening doors is way better, as was the cool down from storage in my garage.

At first I thought it was a lot to spend but way less than replacing the Norcold with a conventional fridge and now it actually works. Could not be happier and one of the best modifications so far.

Hi Crossingover, who makes your fan? I like that it has switches, so that it doesn't have to be on all the time!

My Fridge-Fix has an on/off switch too.

I thought we would wait until after the first of the year to order, since most would be in a deep freeze! Messed up they jumped the price $20 bucks.

RV Cooling Unit Warehouse in Memphis TN. Excellent quality and pricing for the extended width (triple fan) unit. Separate switches for the quiet fans and LED strip. Check them out. Easy 2 wire install (be sure to lube the power wires with soap before snaking through the defroster drain tube).

Fridge-fix made a huge difference in my fridge as far as cool-down time and maintaining the temps in hot weather. It sure is pricey but well worth it.

RV cooling unit warehouse is a lot cheaper.
Any issues with the way it mounts using velcro ?

Like anything relying on good adhesion, surface prep is key. Be sure to clean the bracket fin mounting surfaces with a good solvent (I used rubbing alcohol) before applying the Velcro strips. Get your placement correct the first time cause that adhesive is strong! The Velcro is industrial quality and I have zero concerns about it being able to hold up over time. Also remember the cooling unit is not terribly heavy. As you too noticed, there is a significant price difference between comparable units. The workmanship and finish on mine is outstanding, down to the care taken to carefully bundle, tie, and route all the wiring. Highly recommend rvcoolingunit.com.

Thanks best deal I have seen just ordered one. How easy is it to fish those wires through drain hole? Some have mentioned using liquid soap. Thanks

It's a jacketed pair of small gauge wires (seen in the first photo), tough to push through without lube. I used dish soap and it was easy.

I had some extra stranded small gauge teflon wire that was very easy to push through the hose. I only sent a single wire through the hose and used the fridge fins for return.

Did you hear the exterior auxiliary cooling fan(s) kick on and off during this period of poor cooling?

Yes there are two fans which run so quiet that I actually pulled the outside panel to check them! Thanks

The drain hole looks pretty small. Can water still drain with the wires in place?

My Fridge-Fix only used one wire, has a ground clip for the fins. No issues draining so far. When used very little frost accumulates, so not much to drain anyway!
