frightening passenger

So I am working on my Greyhawk today getting ready for a trip to Disney's Fort wilderness. Had checked the batteries, aired the tires, checked the oil etc. I saw some fresh drips under the RV. I previously had a leak coming from the area of the leveler tank which turned out be be a loose filler cap. I crawled under the coach with a flash light and a rag to diagnose the new leak. As i am running my hand along the top of the reservoir tank to feel for the source of the leak- shock and terror-

Picture this; I am on my back with not much room to spare between me and the bottom of the coach. Out of the corner of my eye I catch some movement, as i turn to see what it is, a big ass snake is coming down toward me very deliberately. He was extended out from the area of the gas tank about 14 inches and he was big around with a lot more of him tucked up under there. Well i screamed like a little girl and damn near killed myself squirming out from under there. So i cautiously go back under with a stick, but can't find the bugger. I don't want to go poking around because of all the spaghetti wiring under there. I can't tell the DW she would never get in the RV again. Maybe he'll just drop off on the way to Disney. Any suggestion on how to get it out of there.

Lowes, Home Depot, Ace and Amazon sell snake deterrent spray.

True, but you won't have any mice around.

We live in south Florida not far from the Everglades so we see a lot of snakes and other critters. I have never seen one like this. It wasn't the run of the mill non poisonous snake and he wasn't a constrictor. We may have picked it up on a recent trip to the Carolina's and Tennessee. Hopefully, Snake Away chases him off. I'll take the mice over this guy

I would've had a heart attack right then and there! If I didn't, I would've at least gotten a concussion getting out of there. Don't like snakes.

Am absolutely terrified of snakes! No manly man here.

1. Would be screaming my fool head off until I passed out (fairly quickly).
2. Don't move so fast these days so probably would have been dead meat for that snake.
3. If I lived I would be the one to never step foot in the rig.
4. Would definitely have to throw out that pair of underwear.
5. Who am I kidding, I would have died from a heat attack on the spot. Hmmm, better not give ideas to the wife.

I think I saw it once. It was on a shelf right next to the cans of elbow grease in the same aisle where they keep the right & left smoke shifters. There was a place for some stone magnets, but they must have been sold out.

Sorry Folks! I just couldn't resist.

Wow, that would have scared the you-know-what outta me! Maybe you have a sequel movie here: “Snakes on an RV”…

We won’t tell your DW, promise!

Starting fluid, carburetor cleaner or WD-40 sprayed across a lit cigarette lighter?

Snakes on an RV indeed, good one. So here is the sequel. I take Grumpy's advise and get some Snake Away. Its a spray so I hook it up to the garden hose to blast the Ba$#&d. I post my son on the perimeter of the RV with a shovel to bash him if he slithers out. So I very cautiously crawl under the RV and position myself to spray where i saw him last. As i get in position well under the RV something drops down on my head. Well, i start screaming like a little girl again. I am freaking out my son is freaking out. The neighbors cat is freaking out, he was on top of the frame and went berserk when i started spraying and jumped down on me from under the frame. After i cleaned my pants, i did finish spraying the entire underside of the RV. I didn't see hide not scale of the snake, but i am done going under there. DW still doesn't know any of this, but the crappy drawers may give me away.

LOL! Thanks for sharing your saga. I’m sure you won’t laugh about it for a long time but you’re entertaining the rest of us. Sorry for your troubles but thanks for having a sense of humor. We all need that!

Well, between the snake and the cat you definitely don't need to worry about mice.

I had a couple bad experiences with snakes as young child. As such, I'm with you and scared to death of them. When I was on active duty, a snake nearly got me court-martialed. Maybe call animal control and ask them if they know of someone that could inspect your RV for and removal of the reptile.

In my head I'm visualizing you under the rv, kid at the ready and cat wondering what the heck...best laugh I've had in a long time!

Well I guess this is the funny story of the day, thanks for sharing! My son and I are the opposite…the moment my wife or any other person says “snake! or gator or turtle or anything else you care to mention we’re are on top of it (figuratively). I can just see me and my son with a jury rigged home made snake catch pole, both of us under the RV totally excited…then again I’m the guy who has had 14 ft hammerheads swim under me 100 ft out from shore and thought it was the coolest thing ever…
