FW Tank - Winterize Question

Hey Gang,

So I have an appointment w/ my alignment shop for 4/1 to get my coach worked on. As noted here, it's advised I get my weight up as close to 'camping weight' as I can prior to the alignment.

My rig is still winterized and will still be on 4/1. My FW tank is forward the rear axle so I'm thinking I can put some camping weight in the rig by filling it w/ 10 gallons or so I'd normally run with.

If I fill the FW tank, and the drain it after the alignment, that shouldn't do anything to my winterizing right? So long as I don't run that water through my lines? I just want to fill it, and then pump it out w/ tank valve open.

Any harm here?

Thanks !

You should have a drain on the outside that will dump the water.
Ours is mounted on the left side in front of rear wheels
You should not have to pump it out.

If temps will drop below freezing you might consider using some stuff of equal weight.

Overall, 80 pounds is a tiny amount. You can just mention that you are at dry weight and fudge an allowance on any adjustments.

Consider anything you pile in, tools, clothes, shoes, food, firewood, propane if empty, battery if not in, anything you normally carry that you don't keep in there permanently need to be account for.

If you "pump" it out, your pump, its inlet strainer, and the lines leading in and out of the pump will likely need attention. While the pump might "suck" some air and partially purge everything when the tank empties, I would not count on that removing all water. And I know you don't want to replace your pump and/or the strainer!

I know all rigs are different but as mentioned in the other post mine has a direct freshwater tank drain. Yours hopefully does too.

Just open the tank drain valves and fresh water wil drain out. Leave valves open for winter time when not using coach...

Fill the tank using a hose on the drain valve...
