Gas cap icon lit up

I'm getting a "Removed Gas Cap" icon lit up on the drivers panel. Gas cap is in place and I have opened and closed several times (manual reset?) but icon remains. On the return from Key West last year the RV gas tank was vandalized while parked in a temp storage lot during visit with family. A flexible connector from the tank to gas fill port was torn open so gas could be siphoned and had to be replaced so maybe there is some "air leak" that was the result of the short flex hose replacement? There is no gas leaking. Any ideas? 2018 Greyhawk FS31

You're probably getting an EVAP code (vacuum leak). I would double check that filler neck hose and the clamps attached. Could it be the thieves may have bent the filler neck at the cap and you're not getting a good seal?

When you had the gas theft, did you replace the gas cap perhaps with a locking cap? If so, I have heard from others that the locking caps, some don't seal as well causing that to happen so if that is the case, try the factory fuel cap again. If that is not the case for you, then I would definitely suspicion the repair work possibly not sealing everything as good as it should as jyh818 stated where a leak (vacuum) is occurring somewhere between the the filler neck and evap canister. ~CA

One way to find out where the leak is located is putting it through a smoke machine. Smoke is pumped into the tank at a low air pressure and then you can see where the smoke emerges from.

If you had not had a break in / theft with damage I would suggest that the most likely cause was a bad or damaged cap. Before you spend money on more work inspect the cap seal closely for damaged or cracked rubber seal.
If you had the work done the shop that did it should fix it for free if they screwed it up.
