Gas grill

I'm a "newbie". Just getting really familiar with the unit. Our 2012 31 DS came with a gas grill. I do not like it at all. What others out there have you found worthy of consideration?

Coleman makes good portable gas grills. The one that came with mine is not perfect but it works as long as I keep the flame low.

i use a camp chef 2 burner model that i hook up to the propane 1/4" quick disconnect under my rv. i have a bbq box on the camp chef on one buner and griddle on the other. if i need to, i can put standard pots and pans on the burners just like at home easily.

similar to this:

i store all of it in the outside storage bin right above the propane quick disconnect port. dedicated as my outdoor kitchen storage.

i would also recommend getting the adapter hose so you can use it on standard propane bottles or the 1/4" quick disconnect from the rv. sometimes you just want the stove away from the rv...

I agree with your assessment regarding the Sidekick grill. For grilling, I am a charcoal guy. We carry the Weber Smokey Joe for grilling. We have just bought the Camp Chef two burner Everest for outdoor cooking. We also have an 8 ft hose with the quick connect for use at the RV propane connection. We keep the Side Kick with us for grilling vegetables and other foods that we may not want to use or tie up the charcoal grill.

Enjoy your 31 DS we sure do!

Hope to see you around the campfire!

I have had a number of higher priced BBQ grills for my RV, including Coleman Roadtrip, Olympia, and finally settled on the Weber Q120 ("BabyQ"). I am very satisfied with this one and run it from the LP attachment on the RV.

I received the Jayco supplied grill with my 31FS. I cooked on it once and it was pretty poor. Given the advice by others and looking at them, I am going to get the Weber Q120 as well.

We purchased a 31ds a year ago and a sidekick grill came with it. Never used it and sold it on eBay for $100 and continue to use a Coleman roadtrip which I love.

Both of my current fivers came with the Sidekick Grill. Both are still unboxed in the garage. Splattering grease all over the siding on the camper doesn't sound fun to me. We use a Weber charcoal grill and a Coleman stove.

We use a Nexgrill, got it at Costco. Love it! Heavy duty stainless steel, built by the same folks that build Jenn Aire.

Bake, took one look at the sidekick and then saw how the mount didn't line up and threw it in the garage. Purchased a Cusinart Petit from Sears, about $140. It fits in side compartment by gas propane line.

I modified the rack that attaches to the side of my 31SS, and put my sidekick grill in a tabletop away from the RV and connected to a BBQ size propane bottle and I like the way it works. I also connect a Camp Chef stove and propane fire pit to the propane tank.
