Gas Mileage
We are looking at getting a smaller motor home. We are just wondering what kind of gas mileage on the smaller Greyhawk or Redhawk?

When we had our 2001 DESIGNER 32 ft I tracked every gallon and it was a steady 7.5 mpg pulling a toad. That was over hill & dale including the Canadian Rockies.

Always between 7 and 8 pulling our Explorer Sport, we go over mountain passes a lot.

I realize this thread is several months old, but we didn't have our Greyhawk when it was active. Just returned from our second trip from Raleigh to Atlantic Beach, NC and back. Our 2014 Greyhawk 31FK averaged 8.3 mpg, we were not pulling anything, it was very flat terrain, and I never exceeded 60 mph. Hopefully this will improve slightly when the Ford V10 breaks in. It has only 1300 miles on it now.
Just adding this note in case a future searcher encounters this thread.

I have a 1999 283G Eagle. Just got home from a 2000 mile round trip from south Louisiana to Kansas City and back. Drove all types of terrain. Somewhat loaded heavier than normal and not towing a vehicle. I averaged 7.5 mpg. Drove at an average speed of 63 mph and still had two rear tires with tread failure...oh well!

Hi,
Our unit seems "happiest" running at about 58 MPH. At that speed we average about 9 MPG. We've gotten as high as 10 MPG when running on fuel without ethanol (found that in Georgia and South Carolina).

58 mph is the happy speed for us too, adds about 10% to the mpg.

The difference between 55 and 65 mph is 15% more fuel consumption. My 2015 Greyhawk is getting 8.25 miles per gallon(US).

Taking our first long trip yesterday I checked the gas mileage between Morganton, NC and Cookeville, TN. We were cruising on I-40 between 55-60 mph and got 9.05 mpg. I was very pleased as the cargo bin was loaded and we had a full water tank, but we were not towing anything. This route also included passing through the Blue Ridge mountains on very hilly terrain.

I agree with most of the above. '12 Greyhawk 3100 SS. track every tankful. Max 9 min 6 mpg, overall average 7.8. doesn't appear to vary much if towing, which I mostly do. Travel against a headwind has more effect than towing. And keep the speed down. 55 is a good speed. After all part of the enjoyment is in the journey, not just the destination.
