Gas Mileage

We looked at Class C this past week we asked salesperson what we could expect for gas mileage. He said 12-14 mpg. Does that sound about right, we were looking at 24-26 ft. Grey hawk

Not even close, The ford V10is pretty good on gas compared to Chevy
Big block. But Most will tell you at 62 MPH normal load no trailer
you might get 10.5 . That is much better than the 7.1 we got in a 24 ft
Big block Chevy.
We 9.2 in our 31DS not towing and 8.5 towing a 5000 lb trailer.

class c mileage

We drove a 2016 26' class C with Ford 5.4 V8 from Iowa to Anchorage Alaska We did not push it very hard but lots of hills/mountains, headwinds etc. Averaged 8mpg for the 3600 mile trip.

Expect 7-8mpg if your towing a vehicle. That big Ford V-10 has plenty of power but is awful thirsty!

Don't believe much of anything the sales guys say...if his lips are moving, well you know what they say.

Remember, he probably has never owned a rv of any kind and just knows enough to get you and him in trouble.

That's great mileage by the way...but he said he was looking at a Greyhawk not a Melbourne. Big difference.

We have a Jayco Melbourne 24L built on a Mercedes chassis and has a 6 cylinder diesel engine. We just got back for Alaska and 10,000 miles and averaged 14 MPG in Canada & Alaska and a bit more back in the lower 48.

8-9 mpg would be considered good. 12-14 is a straight up lie from a RV salesperson. I'd take my business somewhere else. With that said, try not to worry too much about the gas mileage....they all suck. There are more important things to consider when choosing your rig.

As I started to read this... I thought that I was in the the "Jokes/Humor" section.

Our real experience with a Gas motorhome (22ft class C -Chev400CID - Carb, THM400Trans)was never over 12MPG except one time we were heading downhill all the way home with a tailwind with all the tanks empty.

I know it sounds sarcastic, but I am trying to be serious here...
