Gas shocks for Bed

I own a Melbourne 28F that has a rear bed that is part of the rear slide. I want to install gas shocks on the bed to support the bed platform when I lift the platform to store items under the bed. Problem: The platform slides forward when the slide is closed. Has anyone solved this and installed gas shocks on this type of bed?

My 29MV has a similar setup where the bed goes out with the slide. I don't have storage under the bed but have to access two panels, one for plumbing and the other for electrical. I screwed a bracket to the underside of the bed and use a closet rod to hold it up. Not as simple as gas shocks but it's the only thing I could come up with.
