Generator hours

Just figured out where to check the hours on the generator for my 02. It shows 808.7 To me that seams like a lot of hours. The generator starts and runs fine. Not worried about the hours, but does that seam a little excessive? The milage on the motorhome is 37,560. Stan

It might be if you haven't ever changed the oil in it...

I have had my 2KW Hondas for about five years now and they still going strong. When they where new I followed the maintenance real good then it slacks off some as time went by... Mine don't have a hour meter so I just guesstimate. I think my written schedule for changing oil is 100HRS of run time.

I have never dealt with a built-in type generator - My generator only gets run around 3 hours a day when camping off the power grid. I would imagine yours is probably more like 10-12 hours a day maybe as built-in generators can probably sneak more generator run time at camp grounds with generator run time restrictions. No one can tell if it is a generator or the truck motor running.

I would say that is not too much. Many people run there generators while driving down the road so they can run the roof top AC. If so, 37K miles/ 50 mph (average speed with stops) you get about 740 hours of drive time. Then figure if they camped without power periodical, and cooled the rig at home while loading and unloading. I would guess 808 hours is just about right.
