Glacier National Park

We have a 2016 Jayco Seneca and are planning at trip to Glacier National Park this summer. The campgrounds in the National Park in which you can make reservations are either already full or our 37' Jayco is too long. Does anyone know if it's easy to get one of the first-come first-serve sites and are they long enough? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

There is a lot of good campgrounds outside West Glacier. We think the west enterest is better then the East Enterece. Either way, you need to drive from one side to the other. One of our favorite national parks.

I much prefer the East Entrance but you have to research campgrounds carefully. You rig wont fit in Rising Sun but probably will at St Mary (even though they only list one site for you).

the first come first served sites usually book fast in the morning.. there is a status page.

Pick a side of the park as you cant drive your motorhome across Going to the Sun highway. It is in violation of size restrictions..

We stayed on the east side at St. Mary KOA. There were even Phaetons there, so plenty of room for any size RV. St. Mary is very laid back compared to the west side. We preferred that, but some might think that's boring. On the west side, there seemed to be lots of hotels, restaurants and lots of activity going on. The contrast between the two was tremendous.

You might want to schedule your visit in late June or early July because of fire season which can heat up (pun intended) in August. I live in Missoula and have seen many dream vacations ruined because of this.
Montana had a good snowfall this winter so the fire season is unpredictable.
They have already started plowing the snow on the Going to the Sun Hwy. You can't take your RV on this road (and you don't want to), but the renovated 1930's Ford buses are a great way to have that adventure.
They have also just finished renovating Many Glacier Lodge on the east side, built originally by the owner/founder of the Great Northern RR to accommodate his guests. The lobby alone is worth the trip.
