Gmc acadia headlights staying on

I have a 2014 GMC Acadia being pulled behind a 2015 Redhawk 31xl.
I pull the 3 fuses the GMC owners manual indicates to pull 15 amp ECM fuse, 15 amp OnStar fuse and the 50 amp Batt1 fuse.
My problem is the headlights stay on. If I touch the 50 amp Batt1 fuse for a split second to the fuse house it will click the lights off-but they only remain off for about 10 seconds. How can I get the headlights to remain off so I don't drain the battery?

We leave early in the morning for a trip and I am desperate for any help
