Grand Canyon

Thinking about going to Grand Canyon next week. Is this a bad choice for a last minute planned trip? Weather looks OK, but cool.

anyone here with Grand Canyon trip experience they care to share?

Traveling from Houston.

Hey, It's in the Mid 70's this week here in NV and usually a little warmer in AZ. You are higher up so might be a little cooler but not much. 81 degree's this weekend. Evenings will more then likely be cool. Bring a jacket !

Its in the upper 50's for highs this week at the South rim of the Grand Canyon. North Rim is closed till mid May. Less crowds and should be nice, just watch the weather. Can take the train from Williams into the Park if you like. They have changed road access inside the park and I've not been there since, so can't help you there. Plan at least a full day in the park, want to see the museums etc. Enjoy

We live in AZ and have always gone into the park at the east entrance: Take 89 north from the Flagstaff area to 64 west; usually no crowds, and Canyon views are on your right. Have never had a trailer on through the park, however, so can't help you with that.

Going North on 89 from Flagstaff, and before you get to 64, is Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. We've enjoyed camping there (I like the lave flows etc.). There is also Wupatki National Monument with ruins left by the Singaua Native Americans (DW likes to see those).

Go for it. If you can get a spot at Trailer Village RV Park you can walk to the south rim in about 10-20 minutes. Makes it easy to hop on one of many shuttles too. We were there about 10 years ago with our motorhome. They have full hookups and pull thru's. Mostly gravel and dirt if I remember correctly. Have fun!

We'll be there this weekend (Fri-Sun) at the Trailer Village. Will let you know what we find.

We were at Valley of Fire State Park for a couple of days and in Vegas at the moment. Weather has been stellar.
