Grand experiment - fiberglass roof

2016... Wife complains, when working on the roof, of itching. Sure enough, the roof is shedding - a small amount. I don't notice it, I can roll around in R-13 batting and not itch.

Regardless, Happy Wife...
Wife stays willing to go up there and work.

Grand Experiment, long story short - two coats of Sherwin William's best exterior latex. Time will tell if this lasts. But for under $100, she's back up there and willing to work on stuff.

Two coats on our 31FK took about 1/2 gallon.

If I were to paint the roof I might go with this product.
https://www.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum-20.../dp/B000BZTJT2
Wouldn't hurt to put a little additive in it also to help prevent slips.

Will it work? I don't know - it's only been 24 hours. Tom - I saw that paint too. I was thinking "fiberglass - Corvettes, Boats..." Automotive and then marine paints.

From what I could tell, marine paints aren't tintable. I wanted something that, if it failed, didn't look too horrific as it peels.

I really, really cleaned the roof Saturday, gave it all day to dry. Applied paint Sunday. Tried scratching it with finger-nail and adhesion seems good.

I guess we'll find out if it lasts.

I would cover mine in 24k gold if the wife would get up there and work.

She'll read something on a Facebook RV group and come to me and say "Rudy's clearance lights were leaking and now his RV is ruined! Have you checked ours???"

I'll say nothing, just get up walk out to the garage and bring her the caulking gun. Then put the ladder up on the side of the RV so she can tell Rudy she did it herself.

A couple of months ago - "the Facebook group says our black tank smells are because we don't have the right kind of vent up there!"

$16 on Amazon. Hand her the box, and get the ladder again...

I just tell mine to go for it, usually she says see guesses if it was a problem I would have already taken care of it . Then goes back to what she was doing..
