Greyhawk 2016 Bed Platform

I’m sure I’m not the only owner who has issue with the construction of the bed platform. I’m looking for ideas from others on how they may have read constructed the moving section of platform? So far I carpeted that section but the frame wood that slides in and out is cutting into the section that doesn’t move. Have also did a few mods under there to relieve the heat from electric devices such as the power box. I found that with my inferred gun the temp would rise to 156 degrees before it turns on a cooling fan. I vented it into the DS rear compartment and insulated the opening. Seems to be working. Any suggestions or pictures of a better platform would be appreciated. Thanks, Jimmyd

Pconroy, sorry if I misled you on the fan. The fan is already existing in the power box but it was venting into the bedroom. I bored 4 holes of 2-1/4” into the storage compartment to allow the heat to escape to that area. If you look at the picture with the blue board I installed a perimeter of 1”x 2” to support (2) pieces of R10 foam board to keep the heat out of the bedroom area. Seems to be helping. Now I need to beef up the platform support. We added a new 10” mattress and it’s so much better than the original.
Hope this info clears up my original post. Travel safe, Jimmyd

X2! I think a small fan could still be added. I know Jimmyd didn't actually add a fan just vented the original unit...but he might be on to something!

Im hoping just through convection there may be enough warm air flowing away from the electrical components that it keeps it cooler.
We’ll see what happens.

My first picture shows the R10 board in the existing original bed. Second picture is the laminate I glued to the frame. Not the hole in the laminate. I glued a black in there for a support pole. Third picture is installed on the existing base with my support pole holding it open. Last picture shows it closed with the new 10” queen mattress installed. It seems to be much more solid now. Thanks Fuzzy. If I had a table saw I would have trimmed down some wood to match the 1-1/4” lumber that the factory used and built an entire perimeter. I’m hoping the extra insulation will help keeping some more AC in. Safe travels, Jimmyd
