Greyhawk - Norcold Refrg.

Those of you that keep your refrigerator turned on all the time ,how often do you defrost the freezer ? Even if the temperature is staying at -2 to 20 degrees.

I keep mine on all of the time and defrost it before each trip out with the coach. It varies, but usually once a month. If you don’t open the freezer door while the coach is not in use, it very rarely needs defrosting. Also, we live in a very low humidity area in AZ and that helps as well.

Into 10yrs full timing and when we had a Norcold fridge, we found, it will depend on how full you pack it. Watch the walls in there and when the frost is very visible? Then it's time. You will get better results if you don't jam/pack it full.

Good luck.

6.5 years of full-timing, so my ref. is on ALL the time - and I open the freezer door quite often to get ice cubes. I've found it necessary to defrost about every 2 months. My ref. is in my slide, so I have an upper & lower vent in the sidewall. I've been thinking the air circulation with this set-up may not be as effective as one on the sidewall & one on the roof. That may be why my freezer frosts up so quickly, but that's just a guess.
