Greyhawk Underbed Electrical Mess

Happy Labor Day weekend, campers!

In the process of spelunking my 2018 29MV, I came across the "snake pit' that is under the master bed. I was alarmed to see the gross inaccessibility of the schwintek slide control box (in the event it is ever needed) and the loose wiring strewn about.

Has anyone undertaken the task of organizing or modifying the components in this location, or do you just close it back up and "hope for the best?"

Note: No snakes, boxes of spaghetti or Jayco employees were harmed in the creation of this post.

Yeah, my 29MV looks a lot like that. I figured that as long as everything works, I'll leave it alone.
One thing though, the hole in the floor where a lot of wires pass through was sort-of sealed with the black colored foam they use. I could see daylight through a void in the foam.

A mouse got in and used a whole roll of TP to build a mouse-nest in the left end of the rats-nest. The LAST thing I wanted is a critter chewing on some of those wires.

Yeah, it's a giant mess. I'm not near ambitious enough to reorganize it. I contributed to the mess by adding an internal EMS to it.

There was a void in the foam in mine too. A mouse had built a nest in the corner of that mess. I filled the void with steel wool and foam.

That is disgusting, shows complete lack of pride in workmanship. A qualified Electrician would get either a good laugh or have a heart attack at that sight. I would be so afraid of a fire from a rodent chewing his way to eternity for both him and the trailer.

It's like a hidden message saying Fu from the workers at Jayco. To be found years down the road.

They probably buy the wiring harnesses pre-made. Their biggest worry is that a wire may be too short, so, they mak'em long.

Obviously they don't think it's worthwhile to spend the time at final assembly to trim the wires to length as they connect them.

I dont think they use a harness, that probably costs an extra $4. Several dozen crimp connectors and they make their own "harness".

If it's not broke, don't fix it. Breaking that rule has caused me more pain then I care to talk about.

That's my thoughts. I have the tools and knowledge to clean up the mess, but Murphy's law has been known to step in too many times.

That says to me "We get paid piece-work rate, not hourly. If we don't hit our quota of units finished per day, we lose money, so we don't have TIME to make it neat and tidy"

No doubt some engineer is seeing this as an advantage and not a problem.

After all, they ARE giving us some extra wire in case it's necessary for repairs.
