Heat from the doghouse

Has anyone else experienced excessive heat from the sides of that central engine cover (The Doghouse) in the cab between the driver and passenger seats. Has anyone pulled the cover and lined it with some insulation of some type....???

Back in '87 we had a Winnebago (class A), I pulled it off and lined it with insulation to keep the heat out of the cab. I may have to pull this one up as well.....

I had an old Winnebago class A, 79 model. That heat was a blessing in the winter and a curse in summer. We never insulated it but the floorboard got so hot you had to lift you feet up on the passenger side.

I certainly have never done it myself but at work we have an old spare water rescue truck that had no cowling over the dog house at all. It was very hot and very loud. Not sure what kind of insulation they used, I can call the hall it's at and find out but it made a heck of a difference! Noise and heat. Pretty sure it was just tapped on with a 3m two way tape.

The Doghouse is ok on mine, but the latches will certainly burn you. I know because I kick my shoes off when driving longer shifts and sometimes brush my feet across those things.

We just had Roadkill Expert Mat and Carpet Pad installed in the floorboard and door panels of our '14 Jayco Seneca 37TS to help cut down on road noise and heat. Our first trip is later this month so we'll find out then how well these products work.
