Heater test, lesson learned.

We picked up our 2012 31FS in the middle of the summer and the heater was the LAST thing on my mind to test.
For those new to this like I am, a word of advice. When you crank the heater up for the first time, open all the windows, doors and roof vents. I did not and the smell along with running it for the first time set off the smoke detector.

Once I opened everything up and had ran it for about 30 minutes there were no issues. Works great.

Dealer should have done that as part of the pre-delivery dealer prep.

The only thing I got from my dealer was a good price, which I paid for with frustrations at their total lack of knowledge and care.
I was the first Jayco RV sold at this Camping World, as Jayco motorhomes were new to their inventory.
They did not even know it had a 2 year warranty.

I like buying stuff at this Camping World, but stay clear of their service. I have handled the small issues directly with Jayco and they have been really good.

They preserve the furnaces with fish oil. So It will smoke and smell at first fire up. Even home units.

My dealer let mine run when I bought it to burn it off last spring, but this winter I had the idea of wrapping and storing Christmas presents in my TT. Well, it was cold enough, I though, I will just fire up the furnace and keep warm while I wrap. Even though the dealer ran the furnace, I still smelled terrible for an hour or three. Then it was fine the next time I came out and wrapped.

Considering you paid around $750.00 for it, it definitely should have been done

We picked ours up from the factory (mile down the road actually) right after it's build date so we got to 'burn off the new' on our own. Smoke alarm went off LOL It took a few hours for the odor to dissipate and us to be able to reinstall the smoke detector batteries
