Heating pads

Ok I have seen this on the forum but when you need it can’t find it. Just was checking under 2019 Greyhawk before we use it this weekend and I see one of the heating pads is coming off (not impressed). What is the best thing to stick it back on and preferably something I can get in Canada

As usual thanks

I don't know about the best thing, but one of mine came loose on our last trip. I had some aluminum foil tape left over from when I cleaned up the a/c ducting. Used it to tape up the heating pad as a temporary fix. Well, it is holding so good that I think I will now consider it to be the permanent fix.

Lowes sells it. It will be in the area with the RefectX insulation. Hope this helps.

Eternabond would probably be a more "permanent" fix?

Gorilla tape in the meantime? Some guys have used Gorilla tape to repair the various undercoatings on their rigs with great success, so it has pretty good "staying" power.

Maybe some outdoor adhesive? Gorilla Glue comes to mind?

Had mine falling off within the first two months of owning it. I inquired on the board, someone recommended eternabond (available thru Amazon). Worked like a charm, case closed

I'm actually wondering why there are heating pads on the coach. None of the water lines are insulated, but the tanks are. I'm not sure what benefit the heating pads provide.

I do have to laugh at that on many of the MHs, as the water pipes run under the floor and exposed to the elements.

The tanks have huge thermal mass, will freeze from the top down, and take a lot longer to freeze than a small water pipe. If it was mine, and I planned to use the MH in colder weather, I would heat trace the pipes and insulate them.

Best I can tell it's so they can fill an empty space on the brochure.

I don't get it at all. As mentioned, all of the Pex lines down there are COMPLETELY exposed. WAY more risk freezing those first.

I always thought it was just something to add to the price, so they can mark it up.

Cost: $10
Charge to customer: $500

Can't remove it as an option because it comes as part of a package.

Ultraheat RV has a list of recommended adhesives to reattach the pads if needed:

https://www.ultraheat.com/approved-adhesives

My original heating pads installed by Jayco were falling off from day one. I tried to clean it up and secure the edges with the black Gorilla duct tape. That only lasted about a year for me. Ultimately I replaced the black and grey pads with their combination 120v Ac/12v DC pads. When I installed the new ones, I did cover all of the edges with Eternabond tape. Rain, snow, and many miles later they are stuck just fine.

The heated tank pads serve a purpose for our family (we use our unit in the winter too) but only if you go to the time and expense to heat/insulate ALL of the exposed pipes underneath the rig. I have done it on our last 3 units - Starcraft AR-1, Jayfeather X213, and now the Greyhawk. Worth it to me, but obviously not for many people.
