Heating with space heater

Has anyone ever used space heater to heat in cool weather instead of using propane furnace?

Personally I doubt if too many RV's of any type don't have and use 1 or more space heaters. When I'm not worried about freezing lines, I like to use the electricity I've already paid for rather than my propane supply. With a little thought to avoid overloading circuits, I can run as many as 3 space heaters in my White Hawk. Some RV's have separate tank heaters but most get warming below deck from the propane furnace ducts.

Yep, I have a stand up electric, it has a digital thermostat on it, we set it to 73-74 leave it and forget it, no more cold trailer in the morning.

Yes. Like the others, we use an electric one. It does a great job.

I also keep an eye on the outside temp. If it drops to freezing or below, I'll set it up so the propane kicks on a few times during the night just for peace of mind. We have the package with the enclosed underbelly.

We spent a little more for a heater with digital also. Keeps the temp in a closer range than mechanical thermostats. Just like replacing the camper furnace cheapo mechanical thermostat with a digital thermostat. No more stifling hot followed by cold. Much quieter than the LP furnace.

40 + years and that is all we ever used, even in cold weather.

I use an oil filled heater about 44" long and it makes no noise. TT has it's regular 30 amp circuit but I installed a seperate 20 amp circuit that runs the heater.

Yup. I usually run mine in the living room and turn my AC fan feature on to circulate the warm air throughout the rest of the camper (rear bunk room and front bedroom).

Be cautious in freezing temps, because the space heater won't protect your water lines. Anything right at or above freezing, space heater(s) work great!

We have used a small cube space heater for years. In our TT, it did a fantastic job of keeping all of us nice and cozy.

I tended to try to balance the space heater with the propane furnace so that the furnace would cycle maybe 2-3 times each night if it got really cold. Note that we did not have heated/enclosed underbelly.

The new MH has tank heaters, but many of the water lines are exposed to the elements under there; I haven't figured this one out yet...

But I intend to continue using the little space heater, and I anticipate it working just as well in the MH as it did in the TT. But I might consider getting a second one because the bedroom is relatively closed off from the rest of the unit...

All the time when the electric fireplace can’t keep it warm, we use one or two.
Depends on if we have 50a.
