Hello Forum friends- Need load capacity calculations for a Greyhawk 29MVP

Dan and Fab here - About to embark on this new adventure.

Woking on the NCC or load capacity calculations for a 29MVP we are considering buying. Any help making sure we are not overweight is helpful to us. See you all on the open road...

Hey Dan and Fab! Welcome to the forum. A lot of solid information here from experienced RV’ers everywhere. I myself am not one of them! I too am a new forum member. But I saw you are in Patchogue and wanted to say hello. My older brother raised his family there and has since retired to Orient, up on the north shore.
Best of luck with your purchase and starting a new chapter.
All the best,
frank d.

There should be a yellow weight sticker on the door frame that gives you that information.

Welcome!

Start by Googling “can I tow this”. That will give you some calculators to plug in numbers and get an answer rather than guess.

ok, Let's make sure I'm talking about the right calculation. Need to know the weight we can carry inside of the 29 MVP... Before Water, Propane, Humans, Dog, Food etc. I think it's 1800 lbs, but not sure.

Sorry did not read that one well.
The plate on the side will help but until you have a chance to weigh it, with fuel and you on board it is a guess. While they have weights on the unit, they are not that accurate even from the factory.

Then there is all of your gear, including dishes, pot, pans, clothes, water, camping eqt. And the list goes on.

whoops. I should have mentioned, we do NOT own this unit yet. WE are deciding between the 2021 29 MPV and a Jayco Seneca Super C from2018 - Now does anyone know the weight of the stuff i can put in the 29 MVP?

You need to find the yellow sticker on the driver door (I believe) of the unit you are buying or one close to it online. This will tell you how much you can put in it. Any 2022 29MPV will probably work as there are not many options, but numbers could be off from a unit you purchase vs one you look at if it has extra options you add/remove by a hundred pounds or so (12v fridge vs 2 way, extra AC - which you must have, theater seating vs couch, etc).

See the below picture of mine to give you an idea. It specifically says I have 1203lbs I can add, which does not include anything in the water tanks.

GVWR - max operating weight max vehicle weight, not including trailer
GCWR - Gross Combined Weight Rating - Max weight of truck and trailer

If someone has a 2020, 2021 model it would most likely be pretty close as well.

Welcome aboard!

Figuring out the CCC of a MH you have not purchased or seen yet can be problematic. Jayco really does not publish this information. One thing you can do is some google searching. Some dealers will post on their website a picture the yellow sticker info like what Mini4mw showed.

Most 29MPVs will be extremely similar in weight. Maybe a little different do to the options one unit has over the other. Even between years they will be similar, unless a big update has occurred.

Generally speaking class C MHs do not have as much CCC as one would like Super C's on the other hand have a lot of CCC, and towing capacity.

Your probably aware, your passenger's weight also count as part of your CCC

Awesome info. Thank you. We just needed the ballpark info as we are going out for 3 months and if the 29MVP does not offer enough space (which is does not) or carry capacity, then the Seneca gets a big vote from me. Just need to convince my wife she can drive a Super C...

I've been ogling the Dynamax Europa if you wanted a smaller SuperC. Plenty of power and only ~ 31' long so you can still make it into most parks. Only mentioning b/c its the same length as a Greyhawk so its not much different to drive.

I would tell the wife that everyone I have ever spoken to says the SuperCs are 10x easier to drive than a C. Doesn't sway, tracks better, wind and TTs don't push you around near as much.

Someone here with an MVP in 2020 posted 1650 pounds.
We have a similar sized 31FK and our CCC is basically -- "not that much."

Just a thought to add, from what I see on mine (31SS) and some other older units is that the year model also makes a difference. Mine is a 2010 32' GreyHawk (in great condition) and has a CCC of 1994 lbs with 12,506 lbs weight as completed at the factory (according to the yellow label). I have not determined yet why the newer units weigh more, perhaps heavier materials used during the construction. ~CA

There's some little things you can do to save weight. Consider getting rid of ceramic plates, cups and steel utensils. I used paper and plastic for those things. Don't carry full water unless you have to unless your going to boondock. Plus leave the canned goods at home. Don't load the rig up with bikes and junk. It all adds up. Do you really need that fake grass under the awning? You get the idea.

Ok now a couple of things also to remember. Any accessories that were added. Most motorhome that size is about 1700 lbs. Your weight plus any animals or extras you add like side toppers, better stabilizer, and so forth will take a way what you can carry. Even the tow bar weight has to be added. I was told mine was about 1750, but by the time I added my wife, me and my dogs. And some of the extras added I was down to about 1000 lbs carry weight. Does not take long to get there for sure with all the essentials you need. I have to carry some things in my toad to carry my tools to fix things on the road...

A bunch of stuff goes into the toad and I have never really worried that much about the overall weight. I know, there will be a long list of post about how I should but in 25 years of towing and RVing I have not had an issue.
