Holding tank flushing question

Hi everyone --

I have a question about flushing my holding tanks.

I have an hose inlet outside next to my shore water connection to flush the holding tanks on my 2011 Jayco Greyhawk.

My questions are this:
1. Do I need to use a water pressure regulator on this connection?
2. Is there some type of check valve on this connection somewhere inside?

The reason that I ask is that when I don't use a pressure regulator (and my outdoor hose has general/average house water pressure), I get water rushing into the bathroom and out onto the floor (?). I have not been able to use the tanks flush feature because of this. I have not tried it (yet) again with a pressure regulator because I am skiddish of the water coming onto the floor in my bathroom.

Not sure if it it a leak, a bad check valve, generally too much water pressure or another problem that I don't know about.

Anyone idea?

Many thanks in advance.

It's the backflow preventer/vacuum breaker. An important component that prevents the contents of a holding tank from winding up in the hose, should something happen to the pressurized water supply.

The vacuum breaker side is open. A common problem. You'll have to find the little bugger and replace it.

Or, like those of us who don't have the external flush, fill the toilet 3 or 4 times into the black tank. Drive around the block and dump. Repeat until dumped water is free of debris.

Had that leaking problem in my TT after 2nd year. Was at a dump station using the back tank flush . As I walked around the back, water was flowing out under the TT. Inside, the bath was flooded, coming out into the living area. Turned out to be a bad plastic check valve. I replaced it with a better brass valve and all is good. The valve was a booger to get to but after much frustration at Jayco design engineers, I gotter done.

Happy RVing,
Jeff
