A real help is an Amp/Volt Gauge install. That way you can tell when you turn something on! Do you have an Inverter? I don't have an inverter so boondocking with no Shore Power hookup, my heat, Refer and house lights work off the house battery. I plan on installing an inverter soon!

Make sure you have a battery shut off switch at the battery to make sure you have them off for storage. This will also make sure yours is wired correctly. Motor homes are designed/wired to use the engine battery for starting/running and the house battery while parked. But mistakes have been made in the past. If you pull one of the house battery post connections off and everything is off than you know the house battery is the source of house power.

When?
For what?

Pretty vague question.

House runs lights, furnace, fridge etc...and inverter if included in your rig

Truck battery runs the truck.

I have a 2017 Jayco Redhawk. I put 2 Trojan n6 V batteries in for the HOUSE BATTERY.
My cab battery has Lost charge. I’m wondering if the 12 V power is coming from the Trojan battery bank or NOT .

House battery is your House 12v system

Cab is for the engine. Be sure nothing is plugged into cigarette lighter or dash USB, it will drain the cab battery

Get a volt tester and battery Bulb tester. Very important tools for an RV.

On my 2016, the only thing that drains the cab/chassis battery is stuff plugged into the dash and other Ford electronics. If your chassis battery went dead, look for stuff left on -- on the Ford side of things.

Or Chevy, if appropriate.

Ok, that’s probably why my cab battery lost charge. Using the steps, while packing for a trip.

Um...no....that wont kill a battery

You need to test it..
How old is it?

Probably has a dead cell. Or u left the ignition on or something...or it's just old

The INVERTER runs off the house battery and usually runs a outlet for your TV to use and possibly one in the bedroom for a CPAP machine.
TV won't run when engine is running....FYI.... But can be disconnected at the plug if you wanted to

I'd Google search how the power systems work in an RV...

Some education goes a long long way

And read your manuals

12.6- 12.4 charged

Anything under 12 is an issue if it is fully charged

Get one of these to test your battery to see if cells are dead, assume you don't have a sealed battery

Stavman's right - the best way to tell if a battery is dead or not is one of those hydrometers. Voltage, load testing - can tell you if the battery is sick. But even voltage testing needs to be done properly (battery at rest.)

If there's a Battery / Bulbs, AutoZone, etc near by - have them test the battery.

If you've invested in Trojans, I'd also pop for a hydrometer and a load tester.
