House Battery cutoff switch install

I am wanting to install a shut off switch for the house battery.

I know Power can be shut off from inside but not sure If there’s any chance of it still draining since it’s connected.
I am specially looking to make it easier for myself. My plan is to mount a solar panel to keep the battery topped off but would like the ability to be able to kill power from outside without having to go in. On my Jayco TT I was constantly lugging the battery home after every trip to put it on a trickle charger. It was not big deal but my battery in the mh is much bigger and heavier!

I already have a short piece of black battery cable and a switch but not sure how it all needs to be connected.

Connect the switch inline with the battery's ground cable.

Some say neg, some pos. My fiver came from Jayco with it in the pos cable. Maybe because a trailer has a breakaway switch and disconnecting the ground would disable it. The switch is after the breakaway in the pos cable.

Hello,

There is a ton of information out there for you but one place you could look is on Youtube. Search: EXPLORIST life. They have a video on "Camper Solar Setup Tutorial". I downloaded their free ebook when I did my system. It was pretty easy to read the diagrams and build a system that works for you.

Hope that helps.
