House battery question

Hello, new to the forum. I have a 2018 Melbourne Prestige 24LP. Wondering if the house batteries can be removed and still be able to drive the rig to storage? Wasn’t sure if not having the batteries in the rig would damage/affect the charging system while driving. Thanks for any guidance!

It shouldn't. House batteries provide power to the lights, furnace, etc. The engine battery starts the engine and provide power to running lights, headlights, etc. Just make sure to tape or secure the battery cables so they cannot ground out while the engine is running.

As previously mentioned you will be fine driving to your storage location without any house batteries. I am not sure about your coach but on mine I cannot run the generator without my house batteries and I also lose the use of the camera system. If you are planning on removing your chassis battery after it is parked in storage, make sure the power steps are retracted before you disconnect the battery. Once the chassis battery is out the steps will remain in the last position in which they were operated.

If there is any way to trickle charge your house battery (plug in the onboard converter, use solar panels, add a smart multi-stage charger, etc.) then I wouldn't remove the house battery at all.

One thing you can do every month or so: Start the coach engine and let it run for several minutes to recharge the chassis battery as it also charges the house. You could do this at the same time you run the generator for its monthly stretch.
