How many warranty repairs is too many??

Hey there happy campers

I'm new to this forum but not new to RVs at all....

We bought a 2018 Greyhawk Prestige 13FSP in June 2018. Brand new from a dealer.

Went to pick it up and one of the a/c units was not functioning at all. (We have front and rear a/c). Dealer removed and swapped it immediately.

That was just the beginning........

The first summer alone we had 32 warranty repairs completed, and I'm not talking trim and fit and finish issues.

I think we are up to almost 60 repairs since then. It's been in service most of the time.

voltage
fresh Water Tank collapses & drains
a/c
thermostats
batteries
fridge
h/d antenna peeled off
tank warmers fell off (twice)
auto levellers seized
power step
black tank rinse check valve failed
shower drain not connected
shower leaks from various locations
shower floor not solidly installed
wall panels falling off (several times)
backsplash was not glued
bunkbeds were held in place with staples (there should have been screws)
water filter location was a mystery to everyone including Jayco service
water pump failed

And then there is the fit and finish and little trim items.


We even spoke to a Jayco rep at an RV show because our dealer requested it.

I've been told that 2018 was a bad year for manufacturing, but this is beyond that I think.

How many repairs is too many? At what point do we get worried that there are problems we can't see? (mold, wiring that ignites, water damage)

Any input would be appreciated.

Now that the original warranty is up, how is it holding up? It sounds like you may have repaired everything that can go wrong.

Now you will start having to be aware of wlittle things like wear and tear and maintenance repairs.

But not for profit! Quality control is job 10.

Yes I agree, 2018 was a bad year for manufacturing, so was 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014 and on and on and on.

That's something that only you can answer. I can opine and say that I do not think the repairs will ever stop - but let's hope they're just the minor ones.


We've had a handful of big, really-hurt, out of warranty repairs.


But it does seem to be never ending. The microwave is squeaking horribly as we drive. We've tightened it up, but after a few hundred miles it loosens up.


And just two weeks ago, a trim piece fell off the door.


I'm no longer displeased, just resigned to knowing that these things will be non-stop work. The more work you can learn to do yourself, the less expensive these will become.




I don't know of any reasonable way to check for "bad wiring", as one example, without tearing most of the interior apart.
