How to replace garmin with regular radio

Hello and Thanks for any and all help!

2018 Greyhawk 30x here. Buying used, no more warranty. Have searched the forum and haven't found the answer to my issue. We have read all about the problems and potential solutions to the Garmin. Even the current owner complained about it. We want to get rid of it and just have a traditional car radio...hopefully with the ability to insert a flash drive which already has four days worth of music on it.

We expect we will lose the camera benefits.

How can we do this? What products do you folks suggest? Thoughts about cost?

Also, everyone said Do NOT plug anything into the USB port. It's the only one we could find in the RV. How are we supposed to charge our devises?

Is there anyplace to plug the music flash drive in and have it play thru the speakers?

The biggest question is how to replace the Garmin if that is even possible?

This is such a big issue for us, we may pass on, an otherwise nice, rig, and look for something else instead...unless we can find answers.

Thanks!

While we didn’t have the Garmin in our Redhawk, the replacement of the unit is the same. We had the basic Ford AM/FM and replaced it with a Pioneer touch screen with Bluetooth (phone/audio) and USB. I bought the unit and wiring adapters from Crutchfield as they provide excellent documentation and support. I think I had it swapped in a touch over an hour.

We had USB ports on the AC outlet under the dinette seat. You might check there. You can always get a multi port usb charger and plug it into the cig socket.

Wow! Thanks for the ideas. I keep forgetting that we are also dealing with a Ford, not just Jayco. I'll look into your suggestions and it maybe I should check with a Ford dealership to see what they can offer.

I did find that Garmin says we can listen to traditional radio if we have the right antenna. Anyone know if that usually came with the Rv?

Check with Ford, but most dealers won’t touch aftermarket equipment. A good audio installer can do it if you aren’t comfortable installing it on your own.

The Ford factory antenna wire is almost guaranteed to be back there if it isn’t already connected. Most aftermarket units will require an adapter though. Jayco is too lazy to remove something like that but they are lazy enough to not connect it.

Thanks! The boss is very handy and has changed out radios/cd players in cars, we just need to look into the details of installing the one you recommended. Does the usb in your system allow us to insert, and play, a flash drive with all my music on it? I assume it will come out of the coach speakers?

Yes, I’ve got a few usb sticks with music that I use and it does play throughout the coach if you want.
