I must have missed these instructions

Our service tech pointed out that the exhaust vent from the stove / microwave has a travel and operation mode. Heck, I just assumed it flopping as I drove was just the way life was. I guess I will have to add this to my pre-launch and landing set up list! Was I the last to know?

We almost always forget to lock the darn thing back down when we leave the campground... had it fly off once in the TT. What fun, we started carrying a spare... don't ask how I know, but rain water comes the the opening when the cover has flown off!

I was told of this during delivery. I don't hear it much during travel, but windy nights at camp can be annoying! Obviously, a ladder is needed to latch it right? Something I definitely don't have room to stow, unless on the roof or on the back of the coach.

They showed us on our TT when we did the pre-delivery. I have to say, what a PIA to do! I mean, all of the world's technology and we can't create a different method?

C'mon Maaaaaaaannnnnn!!

They showed it to us when we did our PDI. Luckily, mine is easy to reach and easy to latch and unlatch. Our problem is we seem to forget about this step... a lot... when we set up... and a lot... when we take down...
My old Tiltin Hiltin cabover, had the easiest one. Outside a simple spring loaded metal flap door with a ball chain going back inside. On the inside you simply let the spring open the flap and hook the ball chain in a little groove to latch it in place at the desired open level. Forgot about that one a lot too though.

I wish

Someone should devise a mod that allows opening and closing from inside. Then we could make it obvious somehow to remember to close it.

I just open the window over the sink a little to let fresh air in and vent what's cooking. Much easier than messing with the locking vent.

We've never unlatched ours; but then again we almost never cook indoors. Maybe a toaster or microwave. Mostly outdoor grilling with the baby Weber for us.

The tech warned me about these, but I didn't try it until I got the trailer home.

Note that those tabs are on the moveable part of the vent, so they do move outward a very slight amount when they release.

I push the tabs (virtually) straight UP with my thumbs, both at the same time. Trying one at a time does not work for me. They feel like they are a friction fit to keep the vent closed.

On mine, when they release, there is no sound associated with the latches releasing; the vent just moves a bit outward.

Hope that made sense and helps.
