Any recommendations on a good ice chest that fits in a compartment? Would consider electric or conventional.

I have been doing some research on some nicer coolers, and am leaning toward the Grizzly brand molded coolers. In some of the test they may have held ice for onky 4.5 days vs 5 days, but they have a lifetime warranty.

The grizzly is a little more than the rtic, and less than the yeti coolers.

We do have a Coleman extreme currently, ~65qt w/ wheels. The newest version is orange and gray. It does pretty good keeping ice here in Mi. I just haven’t pulled the trigger on a Grizzly since the Coleman is still holding ice pretty good.

Just measure how much room you have and get the biggest that will fit!!!

Have this unit. It is heavy, well made, cools great, and the price is right despite it's quirky branding. Yeti's worst nightmare is having these good knockoffs around.

we have the rtic 65 and it fits in our basement. we used it all this last summer and we really liked how it kept the ice. no more making runs to replenish the ice every other day. I have asked for the smaller arctic 20 for Christmas for just day trips . they are very heavy though, so we load ours up while it is in the basement of the 5th or if it is in the back of the truck.

I'm hugely biased but we've got a 65 qt and 45 qt OtterBox Venture cooler.

I loaded it up with ice for our Halloween party, kept it outside where it was cool (but not cold) and 21 days or so later, I still had ice.

I have spent a fair amount of time surfing for the right cooler for when we feel our Coleman has reached the end. I know the Grizzly didn’t last quite as long as the Yeti, but the lifetime warranty is a nice feature. That’s if they are still in business “down the road” though.

We do have a Rtic 30 and 40 softside. So far we have been impressed with the 30, except for the fact we probably should have bought the 40 first. It’s tough to get enough drinks and ice in the 30 for the four of us (adult bevarages for two, water and pop for the four of us). So we ordered the 40 softside also, it haven’t used it yet. I don’t expect any less performance from the 40 vs 30. I can’t comment in how the hard side Rtic coolers are.

I'm a coach and avid outdoorsmen and here in SC, there's something we can hunt or catch year round when we're not at the softball field. I'd go through 2 or 3 coolers a year easy for durability reasons predominantly. I was hesitant when I pulled the trigger on my 1st Yeti 45 back in early 2007 but you couldn't argue the way these things are built. That 1st one lasted until 2 years ago (almost a decade) when someone broke into my garage and stole it. It hadn't even begun to show signs of wear. I've used that thing in more ways than you could possibly imagine. It fell off the back of my truck, rolled over strapped to an ATV, stepping stool, seat, you name it. I have since replaced it and will likely NEVER own another brand cooler. I currently have 2 (Tundra 50 and Hopper 20 bag) and have bought probably 10 total as gifts, replacements, etc. I'm not saying that RTIC, Grizzly, Coleman, etc. aren't as good, but I KNOW what I get with a Yeti and for me there's no reason to change. My 50 will not fit (height wise) into the storage compartment(s) on my 28BHBE but I believe a 45 might.

Oh heck yeah, me too.

But, when it comes to some things, there's a philosophy of "Cry once." And I decided to do that with the coolers I bought.

Short of having them stolen, I'll never need to buy another.

And having a cooler that'll keep ice in it for 14 days (or in my case, longer) is really going to take a big worry off my shoulders.

One way to look at is, even the biggest/best Premium Cooler is 0.4% of what you paid for your Jayco. Or about 3 fill-ups at the gas station.

RTIC 45 and 20, I bought them on sale last year. I use the 20 on the boat and th he 45 camping. Im satisfied with the build and performance.

Ordered the Engel HD30 last night based on reviews and holding time from the ice challenge. I also like the fact that it folds nearly flat when empty and is lightweight. (Close race with the Rtic 40 soft side.)

We have both... an electric fridge/freezer that we keep in the back of our FJC that is way over 25 years old - a Norcold Tek-II. It can be used on 12v or 120AC and is amazing. It does require plenty of ventilation, so keeping it locked in a storage compartment on the Seneca is just not feasable, thus it stays in the Toyota.

Since Engle made the Electric cooler, we went with their Sportsmans cooler this year. It fits very nicely in the second compartment on the Seneca. We iced down two cases of beer with two 10# bags of walmart ice 3.5 days ago and still have plenty of ice left. (but not much beer)

I have a Pelican and an Igloo and like them both. The new Igloo was actually designed by the guy that did the Yeti. Once his no compete was over he went to Igloo and they designed a cooler with some improvements over the Yeti like no rope handles.

Oh and there are bags on Amazon that work great. I haven't bought ice in a year. But be careful if you use too many they'll freeze everything in the cooler. Put 10 in a 95qt Pelican and everything froze, including a jar of pickles and my chicken thighs. I only use around 6 or 7 at a time now.
Used to when you buy the pack of 2 and leave a good review they send you one bag for free. They are called Cooler Shock. Stack nice in freezer and thin enough they fit nice in cooler.
