Insurance Question

Need some Insurance advice. Have a 2017 29MV GreyHawk. Have had Good Sam Ins since i bought it. In 3 years my premium has gone from $625 to over $1100. Drive @ 2500 miles a year. I have a quote from Progressive for under $400.00. Has anyone had experience with Progressive or advice on another Carrier?
Any advice appreciated.

I have progressive but I have only owned the coach for 2 months. I filed a glass claim for a repair and for some reason it was a PITA. It required multiple calls as I was somehow not completely in the system, whatever that means. It was cheaper than good sams but I hear the same stories of excessive rate hikes with progressive as well.

No experience with Progressive. Check with your insurance company you have your cars and home with. Often they give you a discount if you bundle.

We also switched to our home and auto provider. They just started to carry RV coverage. Our previous company was dedicated to RV coverage and they were great when we had a claim. Probably won't go as smoothly if we have a claim now but saves us about $1000/yr.

I switched from Geico to Good Sams last year because Geico prices went way up. I'm guessing most of their increase was due to the huge increase of Coach-net prices.

Beat me to it, check with your car insurance company, they usually bundle and discount.

My auto and home is with Geico, adding on the new MH costs me $600 for the year.

Thanks for the tips.
My House, Car, Classic Car, etc are all with American National. Their rate was about $850, but the Storage Feature kept me with Good Sam. It is in Storage Mode now, but that was over $500.00. I may give Gieco a call. Would like to have everything together.
Will keep you posted.

How is Geico Customer Service?
My Service with American National has been excellent.

We have Geico for everything (Tesla, Volt, RV, House) and have been very happy with them over the 15+ years we've had them. Have had various claims over the years that were handled well and without issue. Just another data point...

I've only had to contact them for minor stuff, no claims yet, and they have been very responsive...

But, I look at a insurance company like the way I look at this new rig. If you expect dealing with a insurance company will be a nightmare, and it goes easy, you're ahead of the game.

Just like buying a RV, expect that you'll have to do a bunch of repairs and adjustments, and if that doesn't happen, you're ahead of that game, too?

We signed up with Progressive when we bought our TT in late 2017. Premiums are fair and the deductible goes down 25% each year you are claim free. This summer we had a freak hail storm that pummeled the aluminum siding, leaving a lot of small dents. I filed a claim and was extremely pleased with the process. Phone support was great. The adjuster was professional and prompt. I negotiated a fair settlement payment. We are happy.

Interestingly, when we were planning on buying our first TT (154bh), I called our auto policy company (Liberty Mutual), and was shocked to discover that adding the TT actually DROPPED our monthly auto premium, due to bundling.

That's right, it actually dropped our premium!

Even the agent who handled my initial inquiry seemed surprised. He said that it doesn't happen often, but it does occasionally.

I have been with Liberty since the late 70's, so maybe that had something to do with it?

Then when we then traded it for our 224bh, the monthly rate only climbed a couple of dollars, from what I recall.

Best wishes,
Frank

I have progressive for my 2018 Seneca, Currently at $1625 full coverage including new unit if totaled. prepay whole year drops it down to $1450. First year cost was just over $1100, 2nd year 1290 and now $1450. (all are prepay prices)

Haven't had to deal with them except to give them money which went really well....

Really appreciate all the information.
I am going to check with Geico, Progressive, and Liberty Mutual.
Between the 3, I should come up with good plan.
Will post the results
A good Day to all!!

Quick update.
Liberty mutual was more expensive than Good Sam. Almost $1300
They do not write Classic Car ins for agreed value.
Geico was very good to work with an came in at $535.24 which included Replacement Cost and Roadside Assistance. Good Sam requires a separate policy for Roadside.

Thanks for everyone's input and help.

We have a travel trailer and we bundle with our car insurance. It seems to work for us. We use SaifCo. Insurance for home, auto, and the TT. Your motorhome is a auto according to insurance co.

I've played the rate game with Liberty, also. But usually they will "reset" their rates lower every three years, if you ask them.

For a small older sedan, a very large somewhat older SUV, my new Jayco 224bh, and a small utility trailer, I pay about $1300 a year, total, with collision. As I mentioned, adding my first RV last year actually caused my premium to drop. Weird.

I too have progressive. My windshield got hit with a rock and cracked. One phone call and Progressive set up for Safelite to come out. I was offered a repair or replace of windshield and I chose replace. I was very surprised how easy it was.

My premium went up by $200 this year unrelated to the claim but still cheaper than the others.
