When I was looking at these, I found the Go Power to have great ratings... pricey though.

Look on Walmart.com. They have them on special all the time for $100. or so.

I have had good luck with this AIMS PSW 600WATT INVERTER PWRI60012S. This is my DUTY INVERTER that runs all of my home entertainment 120VAC items and other emegency items when we are camping off the batteries.

I also have one of these AIMS 1500WATT PSW Inverter PWRI150012S but it draws to much battery for me so it is installed as a backup. I notice it isn't sold by AMAZON anymore now...

Magnum makes a good Inverter/Charger. I prefer them to Xantrex.

I purchased a Samlex 2000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter (PST-2000-12) for $626.22 and it had excellent reviews. The 1500W version sells for ~$480.

Before you purchase a 1500 watt inverter, do you have enough battery Ah to support it? Nothing worse than putting all that money into something that will run down your battery in an hour or two and you have to shut it down. Do you really need a 1500 watt inverter, when a 600 watt inverter may do the trick. there are two house batteries. the main reason for the inverter is so the kids can watch TV while driving. Was just thinking if I ever need to run something when there was no electric I would have enough for an emergency.

1500W is awfully large for just the TV. A 32" LCD TV needs approximately 98-156 watts. A 42" LCD 91-236 watts. HD cable TV box 45 watts. Computers 150-340 watts. Now, if you are going to run multiple devices at once (some lights 5 to 40 watts, coffee maker 900 watts, XBox 194 watts, fan 320 watts, etc.) then the larger inverter would makes sense. But if all you need it is for the TV and a DVD player, then the other guy is right, you don't need something that large.

thanks for the advice. I still have the old tube tvs they take a little more than the LCD.

If that's the case then you might be better served using your money to replace your TV with a new LED TV and buy a smaller inverter instead. It will be lighter, consume less power when using it, consume less power in standby, and have many more features.

I use one of these to power a 30" LCD and satellite receiver system; it works well, and was not too difficult to install. I have three group 27 batteries. We could watch TV for three hours or so and not over discharge the batteries and have plenty of power left. We would typically have to charge the batteries for an hour or so each day

As others have said, you would need a very large battery system to supply a 1500 watt inverter.

So the 400 watt inverter which is under my bed will handle lights tv maybe coffee maker. 2014 Greyhawk one 12v battery

I just looked at the bottom of our small 4 cup Mr Coffee small coffee pot (which is actually only 2 cups) and it is rated at 600Watts @ 120VAC (5Amps). Now if you convert that to 12VDC Amps needed to run the inverter (to produce 600 watts AC) your battery will be hit for 50Amps, for about 5 minutes that the heating element is active, and I would guess that the Greyhawk's house battery is an 85Ah battery, so that will not last to long.

Well that just blew the 30Amp fuse that Jayco installs between the battery and the RV's control center.

You would be better off boiling the water on the stove and pouring it into the coffee ground basket of the coffee maker and save the battery.

There is not a lot you can do with one 85 or 100Ah battery.

Just my thoughts,

Especially if you want to only use 50 to 60% maximum to preserve the life of the battery.

Thanks guys..Greyhawk has token inverter..is it worth upgradimg to a 600.. with my current battery..or can i also upgrade this 12 volt..i cant fit two batteries and i dont want to do 6 volt
